Landing the reading

A reading should end in one sentence.

After a good reading the person leaves with one sentence. Dozens of symbols may have been discussed, but only one thing stays; if nothing stays, the reading scattered.

Pull it together in four steps

  1. 1Look at the spread as a whole. What is the overall weather — heavy, moving, stuck?
  2. 2Focus on the loudest card. Usually one stands out.
  3. 3Tie it back to the question. Not what the card means, but what it answers.
  4. 4Get it into one sentence. If you cannot, you have not finished reading yet.
End with something concrete: a question, a place to look, an action. "Wait and see" is not a reading result.
