Building a practice
Tarot is learned by repetition, not memorisation.
Most people who try to memorise card meanings give up, because holding 78 definitions in your head is dull and does not work. Meanings settle through experience.
Four habits
- One card a day. Pull in the morning, ask in the evening where it showed up. This is the most effective method.
- Keep a notebook. Card, date, one sentence. Reading it back three months later teaches you a lot.
- Interpret an unfamiliar card YOURSELF first, then look it up. Being wrong speeds the learning up.
- Do not ask the same question repeatedly. Pulling until you get the answer you wanted is not reading, it is self-deception.
Three months of one card a day gets you much further than a week spent memorising 78 definitions.
