Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

Celestine stores your profile, readings, journal and chat history on your phone. We keep no user accounts and no server-side database of your personal data. Our server keeps only short-lived, anonymous counters used for rate limiting and cost control (see section 3).

When you ask a guide or get an AI reading, Celestine sends your message, your name, your birth date and signs, your intentions, today's card and a short summary of your recent chat with its last six messages. Photo readings also send the photo. If you ask about someone you added, only your two sets of placements go, never their name or birth details. It goes through our server to Anthropic, which keeps it for up to 30 days. Your journal, moods and history stay on this phone.

Your birth city and, if you add it, your current city are stored on this device and used on-device to calculate the sky. They are not sent. Your birth time is used on this device only.

People you add (Friends) are stored only on this phone; their name and birth details are never sent.

The home screen widget shows your sign's line for the day and the Moon. It reads data stored on this device.

Share cards include a link to thecelestine.app with campaign tags (for example utm_source=share). The website counts visits without cookies (Vercel Web Analytics).

The app downloads monthly content and settings from our server. These requests carry the random device identifier described in section 3 and no personal data.

If you enter an access code, the code is sent to our server to check it. When you create or restore a backup file, the app sends our server only the crystal and purchase numbers in it, so the file can be verified; no personal data is included and nothing is stored.

Settings shows a Support ID from our purchase provider (RevenueCat). It's only shared if you send it to us.

Data stored on your phone includes:

  • Name (if provided), birth date, birth time, birth city and, if you add it, your current city
  • Intentions and app settings
  • Tarot draws, readings, charts and compatibility checks
  • People you add (Friends)
  • Journal and wish entries, evening reflections and mood check-ins
  • Chats with the guides and the short summary they remember
  • Crystal balance, streak and lesson progress

2. Services we use

Celestine uses the following third-party services:

  • Anthropic (Claude API): the data described in section 1 is sent through our server to Anthropic's API for processing only. Anthropic acts as a processor on our behalf and does not use this content to train its models. Photos are resized on your device and are never saved by the app or our server. Anthropic may keep API request data, including photos, for up to 30 days (longer only if a request is flagged for a safety review) and then deletes it.   • Cloudflare (Workers): our server runs on Cloudflare. Requests pass through it and are not stored there; Cloudflare processes them as our infrastructure provider.
  • Vercel: requests to thecelestine.app/api pass through Vercel, which hosts our website, on their way to our server. Vercel forwards your IP address to our server for rate limiting only; request contents are not stored.
  • Vercel Web Analytics (website only, not the app): counts page views on thecelestine.app without cookies and without identifying you across sites.
  • RevenueCat and Google Play: for premium subscriptions and crystal purchases. They process purchase data under their own privacy policies.

We do NOT use advertising networks. Celestine contains no ads, no ad SDK and no advertising identifier, and we do not track you across apps or websites.

3. Device identifier

The app generates a random identifier on first launch (for example "d_8f2k...") and sends it with each request to our server. It exists for one purpose only: per-device rate limiting, so that a single device cannot exhaust the service. It is not your advertising ID, is not linked to your name or account, is not used for support, is never shared with third parties, and is replaced when you erase your data or uninstall the app.

4. Reporting an AI reply

If you report a reply from a guide, the app sends our server the first 400 characters of that AI-generated reply, the guide's name, the reason you selected and the app language. Your own message is not included. Our server log records only the guide, the reason, the language and the length of the reply, not its text, so we can review and improve safety. Reporting is always your choice.

5. Where your data lives

All personal data is stored on your phone. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes it.

We don't keep copies of your data, and Android's automatic cloud backup is turned off for Celestine. You can create a backup file yourself (Settings > Back up to a file); it contains your profile, birth details, journal, readings, chats and crystal balance, and stays wherever you save it. Restoring a file adds its contents to what's on your phone. Without a backup file, a new phone starts fresh; your subscription comes back through Google Play.

6. Age

Celestine is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has used this app, please contact us.

7. Deleting your data

Clear reading history deletes your saved tarot draws and readings. Clear chart and match history deletes charts and matches you looked up for others. Clear chat history deletes your chats and what the guides remember from them. Erase all data deletes everything personal Celestine stores on this phone. We keep the date you first set it up and a few purchase and allowance records (no personal content), so the welcome gift and free message allowances can't be claimed twice. Your purchase records stay with Google Play and RevenueCat.

Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

8. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will tell you about changes by updating the "Last Updated" date.
