What is on a card

Reading the picture instead of memorising the meaning.

Tarot cards are illustrated, which is what makes them readable. Even if you forget the meaning you can build a reasonable reading from the picture — which is what practised readers mostly do anyway.

Figure

This diagram is drawn live in the app, on your own chart.

Where to look

  • What is the FIGURE doing? Standing, fleeing, turned away?
  • DIRECTION — right tends to be future, left the past. Where is the figure looking?
  • BACKGROUND — clear sky or storm? Empty desert or full field?
  • NUMBER — how many objects? The number story is read from here.
An exercise: pull a card and write three sentences WITHOUT looking up the meaning. Then read it. You will usually have got at least one right.
